Dear Cathy, today a new member has been added to our ranks at POS. It is a sad day for us moms when that happens. Perhaps it is a day when Stephen and Eric rejoice....for what is death but rebirth, graduation? I only know that it is us moms who must bear the burden of life without the one who gave us the title of MOM. We wear it always in our hearts, so wide open now with compassion and empathy; but with nowhere to point it. My heart's pain is yours also. I like to think that my Eric's joy is your Stephen's also. They are making miracles, helping this world become sweeter, gentler, more humane. Bless their hearts. Bless ours. Much love to you Cathy. I met Stephen in person once before he was a teenager, but I knew how special he was and is to his family before that. His aunt Angie was my college roommate, and I saw his pictures and heard proud, amazing stories about Stephen every day for almost a year.
I am so sorry, and saying so doesn't truly express it the way I feel it. Close

A mother is born when a child is conceived.  A doctor once told Tim and I that when a woman is pregnant, she is 100% pregnant...her body, her emotions, her whole self.  I think it must work that way with the role of motherhood, too.  We are never only partly a mother.  We are 100% a mother.  Always.  Forever.  No matter what happens to our children.  Happy Mother's Day, Cathy.
